Portugal’s government was expected to approve new housing measures last Thursday, including a proposal aimed at unlocking properties held in undivided inheritances.
According to the information available, the package includes a special procedure that would allow a single heir to request the sale of properties held in undivided inheritance when a deadlock among heirs persists for two years.
In addition to this measure, the housing package may also include changes to rental laws, with the objective of speeding up eviction procedures.
These proposed measures are intended to address situations where properties remain inactive due to unresolved inheritance disputes, as well as to improve the efficiency of the rental system.
